Serious gum (periodontal) disease is the main reason people end up with dentures.  It’s very closely linked to heart disease, strokes, diabetes, breast cancer and a bunch of other serious illnesses.  Gum disease is a silent killer type disease because it doesn’t hurt until it’s almost too late to treat it successfully.  There are many ways to treat gum disease, through deep cleanings, antibiotic therapy, special mouth guards with medicine inside them, traditional scalpel gum surgery, comprehensive home care, and my favorite way with lasers.
